September 2013

On the 24th September Cikananga Rescue Team evacuated the one of endangered raptor (bird of prey) the Javan hawk eagle (Nisaetus bartelsi) from Nature Resource Office (BKSDA) in Soreang, Bandung. This young endemic java raptor seems in good condition with the dense feather and not found any injured in the whole of its body. The beak looks so strong and the eyes sparkling observed. Javan hawk eagle is the beautiful creature that has the serious threat from illegal hunter to trade in the bird market nevertheless in some visits to observe the number of eagles we never found any raptor in the bird market.

BKSDA Serang territory was success to rescue Telsi, the name of this Javan hawk eagle from the owner who kept the eagle since it’s chick. Not surprisingly the eagle is tamer than we guess. Now Telsi is residing clinic to have medical check before we move to rehabilitation area of 11 hectares Cikananga land.
